Walk On Hardness

Time for a smoothing underlayment to become sufficiently hard enough to allow light foot traffic.

Waterproof Surface Membrane

A layer of material, normally epoxy, designed to suppress construction moisture. In some cases (dependent upon type) it can be used where there is no damp proof membrane

WME (Wood Moisture Equivalent)

The percentage of moisture measured in a substrate on a scale calibrated specifically for the installation of wooden floors.

Wood Block

Boards up to 76mm wide of equal length under 330mm long. Also see Solid Wood Floors.

Wood Float Finish

An open textured finish normally relating to screeds.

Wood Plank

Boards over 76mm wide and over 300mm long.

Wood Strip

Boards up to 76mm wide and over 300mm long.
