Feathered Edge

Where a smoothing underlayment tapers to the existing floor surface.

Filled Mix

An underlayment mixed with aggregate to achieve greater thickness/volume.

Flash Setting

The rapid setting of a smoothing underlayment. Often caused by applying too thinly on to an absorbent surface or at high temperatures.

Floor Slab

The structural base - normally concrete that can be laid to earth, or be suspended.


Easily broken into small fragments or reduced to powder form.
